FAQs

Will I need to be home during this service?
In short: That depends!
If Peak Environmental installed your irrigation system, we included an outdoor controller receiver. Once the water supply is turned off, you will not need to be home during the closing service.
If we did not install your system, we will need access to your irrigation controller in order to run through each zone during the blow-out service. If this is the case, you can consider the possibility of leaving an entrance unlocked if your controller is in an easily accessible area (in your garage, for example). We’d be happy to lock up when we’re done!
Feel free to contact us if you’d like information on upgrading your current irrigation controllers, such as adding the outdoor controller receiver, or even smart controllers that connect with your phone!
What do I need to do?
If possible, we’d love to enlist your help in turning off the water supply for your irrigation system, which is located in your basement. For this reason, we provide the above instructions so that we don’t need to access your basement!
Why do we winterize irrigation systems?
We’re sure you can guess that this is due to our cold weather. If the water were left in your underground irrigation lines during our average Winter, it would freeze, expand and cause damage to the irrigation system, such as lines bursting or cracking. We attach an air compressor to your system (at a specific and safe pressure) to blow out and remove the water from each line.
What is the ideal timing closing service?
Irrigation closings are scheduled once the weather cools down and/or the lawn no longer requires daily watering. The winterization service becomes more necessary during prolonged periods of sub-zero weather when ground temperatures begin to reach freezing.
